About

This guide starts in the 80s with Pittsburgh in transition from a steel city to today’s high-tech hub. We were empty nesters then because we we didn’t (yet) have children. We’d spend Saturdays exploring places to eat, from Hotlicks to Big Jim’s to the Carlton.

We got married, moved to Michigan, had three kids, moved back to Western Pennsylvania’s “North Country.” The kids went to college, scattered around the country,  and we moved back to Pittsburgh as empty nesters once again.

Saturday Lunch is the story of re-exploring Pittsburgh: the restaurants, neighborhoods, and events. After all, we need something to do now that we don’t have high-school golf matches, tennis matches, swim meets, ski races, soccer games, and track meets to fill our time outside of work.
